Business Development Manager - Health Care and Life Sciences Practice Group (1117-1)
New York, NY; Chicago, IL; or Los Angeles, CA
The Business Development Manager serves as the primary business development
and marketing strategist responsible for developing, leading, and
marketing and business development activities for the Health Care and Life
Sciences practice groups and firm-wide industry initiatives. This position
closely with practice group, team, and industry initiative leaders to
relationships, establish new connections including referral sources, and to
position the firm in the marketplace in order to advance the business
Develop strategic plans to drive the business development and marketing
goals of the assigned practice and industry groups.
Collaborate with the firm?s Proposal Development and Competitive
Intelligence teams to conduct research and obtain market intelligence on
industries, trade associations, clients, and prospects as input to tailored
promotional letters, pitches, PowerPoint presentations and proposals. Also
offer guidance in the preparation of tailored responses to RFPs, RFIs and

marketing to produce client development seminars, firm-sponsored events,
CLEs, conferences and trade shows in addition to identifying speaking and
Ensure that new lateral partner hires are effectively on-boarded.
Develop and maintain collateral materials including deal or case lists,
area descriptions, website content, attorney bios, etc.
Draft responses for and provide strategic direction into relevant surveys
legal directories to increase awareness and recognition of assigned practice
and industry groups.
Plan and participate in assigned practice group, team, and industry
Provide business development coaching to members of the assigned practice
and industry groups.
Work closely with the Directors of Media Relations and Communications +
Branding to develop strategies and written communications, press releases to
promote the assigned practice and industry group?s successes.
Network and forge relationships with referral sources and relevant industry
organizations in order to grow new revenue streams.
Strategically use marketing tools to identify, source, and expand
opportunities for the assigned practice and industry groups.
Bachelor?s degree and a minimum of 5 - 8 years of marketing or business
development experience, preferably in a major law firm and/or professional
services environment with minimum 3 years in a management role. MBA
and/or MPH a plus.
Knowledge of Health Care and Life Sciences practice areas and/or industries.
Experience with a multi-office U.S. company with an international presence
Available to travel to other firm offices and/or industry events as
