Billion dollar wealth advisory firm (SEC registered investment adviser)
seeks a COO with experience overseeing growth of an RIA via organic
growth/acquisitions to drive day-to-day operations, manage/integrate
strategic growth initiative, and ensure proper operational controls,
administrative/reporting procedures, people, and systems are in place.
Change management experience is critical--should know the issues faced by a
growing RIA and be able to anticipate/avoid them as the firm grows.
Entrepreneurial grit, ability to effectively manage people/process, and
focus on delivering results are key traits.
Manage operational aspects of the client experience and develop/construct
operational infrastructure/systems/processes designed to accommodate
Staff Management: influence/promote healthy culture; quarterly meetings with
staff to develop and document objectives/progress; workload/workflow
Organizational Development: recruiting; career path
development/training/succession planning for each role;
performance/compensation review; employee incentive programs; provide
direction/leadership to CCO and mitigate operational/compliance risk firm-
wide; business operation oversight (vendor relations/service
contracts/office space maintenance/facilities/leases/insurance
Mergers & Acquisitions: manage integrations from start-to-finish including
integration of systems/team members
Investment Operations: work with Investment Committee, Trading Department on
integration of various Investment Committee recommendations
Complete projects to improve efficiencies related to money movement,
portfolio implementation, workflows
HR: participate in HR Committee and performance/compensation review process;
develop more efficient platform for review/evaluation completion
Technology/ Systems: work with technology team to ensure full implementation
of technology resources; monitor execution of projects/initiatives; oversee
Financial: establish/monitor departmental budgets and revenue forecasts;
participate in development of short/long-range plans and budgets based on
10+ years’ experience in senior management in the financial services
Bachelor’s degree in business-related field; MBA or advanced degree
Familiarity with Tamarac suite, MoneyGuidePro, Worldox, Schwab/Fidelity
custodial procedures would be a plus
Passionate/optimistic/visionary leader with proven track record in change
management; ability to influence and engage staff/peers and inspire
respect/trust; strong mentoring/coaching experience
Self confident, but able to quickly admit/self-correct own mistakes;
flexible, collaborative, proactive leader
Analytical and risk focused; significant experience in technology and
Balanced strategically and tactically in operational design/implementation
Exceptional written/oral/interpersonal communication skills, judgment and
creative problem solving skills
